The 12 tags of 2013

Hello my dears. I've read Tim's blog for a good while now and always loved his tags. I felt it was about time I had a go at creating my own. Start building up some new skills for a new year. I didn't have all the same tools available, so a fair whack of improvisation, but I'm happy with the result for a first try. Lacking the quote stamp I knew I'd be going with a different sentiment. Hope you like it.

And a photo record of the creation of it. Nothing particularly fancy, but think it worked effectively.Got to start somewhere.

Inked with part old paper distress and part tea dye.

 Gear embossed with Xcut gears.
Rubbed over with brown ink pad and then a maroon colour.

Die cut Tim Holtz Sizzix film strip

Attached with clear double sided tape.

A playing card from a Christmas cracker.

Cut a small rectangle, used distress ink tea dyed, then ran the edge through a black ink pad before distressing it. I had the quote in mind before as it seemed suitable for this time of year. The idea of Rota Fortunae. The wheel of fortune comes with ups and downs.

Added a brass circle using game spinner.

Added the clock and quote. Used foam pads for the quote raising it over the wheel

Added two brass hair clips to the quote as lacking a clip.

Added chord and a button as it seemed like it needed something else. Hope you like it. I've enjoyed making it. I think I'm going to reward myself to the sizzix gear die soon as keep thinking off things I want to use it for.

  1. Here in the States, we call your brass hair clips "bobbie pins." And of course we know what bobbies are in the UK. I enjoyed looking at your tag and how it was made and know you will have fun following along on Tim's blog this year. Sharing the work and seeing what others are up to is the best part!
